Shell Pearls
Shell pearls, which are human-made, go through several complex development stages, starting with the shell of an oyster. The shell is ground down and then formed over a small piece called a "mother of pearl bead". More layers are then added until a full shell pearl is produced.
The mother of pearl bead adds weight, value and durability to the pearl. In fact, the materials used to make shell pearls are the same materials from which cultured pearls are made.
The shell pearl strands below add a classic look year-round. They are 15 inches long and are
offered at our special online price of $15.00.
Lucite Jewelry
Lucite is a special resin developed by the DuPont Laboratories in 1937. Lucite was widely licensed for use in making a wide variety of colorful jewelry because it was inexpensive and easy to work with in carving, inlays, and creating many other decorative styles. It also could be made in almost any color –- ranging from opaque to transparent.
Lucite jewelry became highly fashionable very quickly from about 1940 to 1953 – and today,
due to its versatility, continues to be much sought after because it can be used to create such distinctive jewelry.
The Lucite strands below are 14 inches long and are offered at our special online price of $8.50.
